Writing

I am a writer particular attentiveness to living the darkness and light — the poetry and rough prose — of everyday life and related themes. Why do I spend my life writing? I’ll let Sylvia Plath answer that for me.

I am available to write in publications ranging from the spiritual to the mundane. I’ve written prose, prayers, and poetry. I’ve been a professional blogger and columnist. I’ve written for faith formation and catechesis. I’ve written feature pieces for magazines. I’ve written grant proposals, reports, and strategic plans. I’ve even written a meme or two for social media that did not in any way go viral. I also have worked as an editor for academic theses, journal articles, and more.

Programs

I have worked with a variety of communities, organizations and conferences around various themes and using various styles from workshops and conference presentations to reflective programs and retreats. I take care with listening to a group’s needs and creating programs and projects customized to them both in content and format.

Consulting

I have served as a creative consultant in a variety of capacities for charism-based communities and non-profit organizations.

At the heart of my work is discernment and deep listening to a group’s charism. My approach is located within a contemplative space that is safe, open, curious, and thoughtful. It is also one that appreciates where a group has been, where it is in the present moment, what its vision is, and what its horizon may be. When needed by a group, my approach is also actionable and “practical-minded” and may include more strategic-oriented work — all of which keeps discernment and charism at the center and as regular touchstones.

My skill sets include but are not limited to the following:

• spirituality and theology
• religious life, discernment and vocation
• online presence (websites, social media, blogging and podcasting)
• planning transitions from “bricks and mortar” to online and digital as well as hybrids
• communications and strategic planning
• discerning, creative and actionable project design
• visioning and re-envisioning

As a consultant, I also bring with me a vast network of collaborators and contractors who bring other areas of expertise to support the projects I shepherd.
