My areas of interest and research are centered around the experience of God as Holy Mystery through both the light and the darkness, the poetry and rough prose of everyday life. Some of the themes and sources I often engage are as follows:
- Spirituality and contemplative “being”
- Prayer, mysticism and engaging the sacred
- Teresa of Ávila and mystics of various traditions
- Karl Rahner and various theologians and theologies, especially those from marginalized communities
- Catholic scripture and tradition
- Faith at the intersections of pop culture, art, technology, neurodiversity and current trends and events
- Communities that have been marginalized by church or society
- Wilderness and earth as sacred spaces
- Finding God in “ungodly” places
- Spirituality and life with depression and anxiety
- Writing as an art and an act of becoming fully who we are
I also have an adventurous horizon of thinking and imagining and am experienced at wrestling with diverse topics and situation. I am a thorough researcher and also a welcomer of the epiphanies that emerge ex nihilo.
These themes are expressed in various ways in my writing, preaching, and programs.
Don’t see a theme here but you are interested in exploring it with me? By all means, let me know. I’d love to hear what you are imagining.
